Established over a decade ago and boasting nearly 40 member foundations, the South Carolina Grantmakers Network provides an opportunity to network with other foundations making grants in the state; learn about current trends in South Carolina public policy, education, environment, health, grantmaking and other current topics; and build collaborative funding opportunities. Although they differ greatly in size, grant focus, age, origin, geography and structure, each foundation has contributed and gained much from their membership. We recognize that the challenging economic climate has created a substantial impact in the non-profit sector. For this reason, in recent years The SC Grantmakers Network has taken steps to define and coordinate collaborative efforts to better understand each others giving, seek ways to coordinate efforts, replicate best practices, leverage the influence of grantmakers with compatible goals and enhance the visibility of the philanthropic community.
It is our goal that this website will serve as a valuable asset to not only strengthen our membership’s ability to communicate more effectively, but also as a tool to elevate the significant impact that philanthropy has in our state. Through our concerted efforts, we hope to realize the power of our collective influence in tackling some our state’s most pressing concerns and identify other public and private sector partners to leverage even greater impact.
Furthermore, many of our members have commissioned important research studies that serve as a tool for greater understanding of the issues that effect both giving and the services that are made available through philanthropy. Please take time to explore these publications and resources and see for yourself - we are committed to growing philanthropy in South Carolina!
Sincerely,
Mary Thomas Chairperson |
