|Self Family Foundation Announces New Trustees|
The Self Family Foundation board of trustees announces the election of J. C. Self, III, as Treasurer and Trustee and Cade Brennan Jackson and David Welborn Adams, trustees at their March 16, 2012 meeting.
Virginia P. Self, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, announced the election. Other members of the Board of Trustees include: W. M. Self, Vice President; Sally Self, M.D., Secretary; Julian J. Nexsen; Jr.; Furman C. Self; and Jon Holloway. George Kennedy who was ineligible for re-election after serving two terms rotated off the Board.
Mr. Self is President and CEO of Greenwood Mills, Inc. and a native of Greenwood. He is a graduate of Clemson University and earned a MBA from the University of South Carolina. He is a graduate of Leadership Greenwood and the Liberty Fellows Leadership Program. Jay is a former board member of the SC Chamber of Commerce and the Greenwood Family YMCA. He currently serves as a member of the J. C. Self Research Institute for Human Genetics Endowment Board. He is married to the former Angela Mackley of Charleston and they have two sons, Jimmy and Mack.
Mr. Adams is a partner in Tinsley & Adams, LLP and a native of Greenwood. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and the University of South Carolina Law School. He is the Mayor of the City of Greenwood, serves on the boards of the Upper Savannah Council of Governments and Sexual Trauma and Counseling Center and formerly served on the boards of the United Way of Greenwood & Abbeville Counties, Greenwood Literacy Council, Greenwood Area Habitat for Humanity, Bowers Rodgers Children’s Home and the Board of Visitors of Self Regional Healthcare.
The Self Family Foundation was established in 1942. To date it has granted over $60 million to organizations and institutions throughout South Carolina.
